This week (even with the severe weather interruptions ๐ง๏ธ), we celebrated Bus Driver Appreciation Day! ๐๐ We have amazing bus drivers who safely get our students to and from school each day. They truly are a great group of people, and we are so grateful for them!
Friday was also School Lunch Hero Day! ๐๐ฅช Our child nutrition team works hard every single day to prepare delicious meals for our students. Even more importantly, they show so much love โค๏ธ and care for our kiddos in ways that go far beyond the cafeteria!

This week, students brought history to life by dressing up as settlers from the original colonies ๐ and as Founding Fathers ๐ฉ. We even held our own โtea timeโ in honor of the Boston Tea Party! ๐ต
Through these hands-on activities, students learned about the importance of taxes ๐ฐ and how they impacted early settlers. They also tapped into their creativity by imagining their own countriesโcoming up with unique names ๐ and designing flags to represent them ๐ฉ
It has been so exciting to see their engagement and enthusiasm as they connect with this important part of history! โญ๏ธ๐ Great things are happening at Reno Elementary!!!! #WeareReno #PorcupineFamily

Mrs. Reyna, Mrs. Theisen and Mrs. Young truly are the heart of our school โค๏ธโkeeping everything running, supporting everyone who walks through our doors, and doing it all with a smile ๐
You never know where the day will take you in the front office, but they handle it all like pros! ๐ช๐
Thank you for everything you doโwe appreciate you more than words can say! ๐๐ Fun Fact: This group is likely the longest lasting office staff in the district! They have been here at Reno for 25 years and counting ! #WeareReno #PorcupineFamily

This morning, Officer Long grabbed an umbrella to help keep our kiddos dry as they arrived at school. It may seem like a small gesture, but itโs moments like these that make a big difference.
Itโs the little things that truly matterโand itโs exactly why Reno is the best.

As we head into the final stretch of the school year, weโve seen an increase in visits to the nurseโs office for students needing a change of clothes. At this time, our supply of extra clothing is running low.
We kindly ask that you send your child to school with a change of clothes to keep in their backpack. Accidents, spills, and even fun outdoor activities can happen at any grade level!
With Field Day and end-of-year events coming up, this is a great time to plan ahead so your child can stay comfortable and ready to learn (and play!) throughout the day.
Thank you for your support in helping us keep students safe, comfortable, and confident!

Over the past few weeks, students have been observing chicken eggs in an incubator, watching closely as they developed over 21 days. The excitement peaked on Wednesday when the chicks began to hatchโright before their eyes! ๐ฅ๐
Students were able to witness the entire hatching process throughout the day, and after the chicks arrived, they even got the opportunity to gently hold them. Talk about a hands-on learning experience theyโll never forget! ๐ซถ๐ค
We love bringing science to life and creating meaningful moments like these in first grade! ๐ฑ๐ Great things are happening at Reno Elementary! #WeareReno #PorcupineFamily

Our 2nd graders are becoming chronological thinkers as they explore the concepts of past, present, and future! This week, students took their learning a step further by writing letters to future 2nd graders. ๐
In their letters, students shared advice, experiences, and what theyโve learned throughout the year. This activity helped them understand how time connects events and how their present experiences can impact the future.
By combining writing with social studies concepts like timelines and sequencing, students are strengthening both their communication skills and their understanding of how events happen over time.
We are so proud of the thoughtful ideas and creativity our students are showing as they learn to reflect on the past, live in the present, and look ahead to the future! ๐ Great things are happening at Reno Elementary!
