💵 FINANCIAL FRIDAY 💵 Local Taxes vs. State Aid is a Balancing Act The state assigns each school district a funding amount per student (weighted average daily attendance – or WADA). This amount is based on several factors, including student attendance, property tax collections and property values, and is used to determine Springtown ISD’s annual budget. When local property tax revenue increases, the amount of funds received from the state decreases so the district keeps the same funding per student, regardless of property taxes collected. When the amount of local taxes exceeds what the state has assigned to the district, those funds are kept by the state and distributed to other school districts as state funding, a process known as “Recapture” or “Robin Hood.” While SISD is not yet a recapture district, the district has seen a decrease in state funding each year as more property taxes are paid. 🖥️ For more information about school funding, visit www.springtownisdbond2023.com/tax-information

This month, we're shining the spotlight on Kenna Chavez, trip coordinator for Springtown ISD Transportation Department, and it's easy to see why she's our SISD Very Important Porcupine! 🚌🌟 Kenna's day starts long before the sun rises, as she opens the office at 5 a.m. every morning. But her commitment doesn't stop there. She is still here every evening when the bus drivers all head home, ensuring everything is in order and everyone is taken care of. 📞 Taking countless calls and listening to the concerns of numerous parents, Kenna handles it all with grace and patience. She's the calm voice on the other end of the line, always ready to help and find solutions to any problem. But that's not all - Kenna wears many hats. She's on the radio answering questions and giving directions, ensuring our operations run smoothly. What's remarkable is that she does all of this with a smile and a positive attitude that brightens our bus drivers days. The Springtown ISD bus drivers said, "Kenna is there for each one of us, offering assistance with anything we need. Her welcoming demeanor makes it easy for anyone to approach her, and she's got the answer 99% of the time. If she doesn't you can count on her to guide you in the right direction." Kenna Chavez is the #SISDVIP and she has definitely earned it. STUDENT GROWTH + ENROLLMENT PROJECTIONS 📈 Springtown ISD is growing faster than 90% of school districts in Texas, according to the Texas Education Agency. And our enrollment continues to grow! This chart shows our projected enrollment for the next eight years and how our actual enrollment as compared in previous school years. 💵 FINANCIAL FRIDAY 💵 After extensive research following the failed May 2023 bond election, SISD retained new financial and bond planning advisors that proposed additional methods for reducing the tax impact of the bond projects. Bonds will now be issued in multiple sales, which lowers the I&S tax rate increase to 17¢ per $100 valuation. Also, SISD trustees approved a historically low M&O tax rate at their 8/28 meeting. This will allow the SISD to raise additional pennies on the I&S tax rate, while keeping the total tax rate 1 cent lower than it was last year. • 2022-2023 TOTAL TAX RATE: $1.1432 per $100 valuation • 2023-2024 TOTAL TAX RATE WITH BOND: $1.1278 per $100 valuation • 2023-2024 TOTAL TAX RATE WITHOUT BOND: $0.9578 per $100 Valuation 💻Visit www.springtownisdbond2023.com

During a specially-called school board meeting last night, our SISD Board voted unanimously to call a bond election that will be on the November 7, 2023 ballot. The $120,780,000 proposal includes: 🏫Construction of a new middle school for grades 6-8 to accommodate enrollment growth. 🛠️Renovations to convert Springtown Intermediate into the district’s fourth elementary campus. 🛠️Converting the old middle school building to a 9th grade center.
