Dear Springtown Middle School Parents/Guardians and Staff,
We want to extend our heartfelt thanks for your patience and understanding during the unexpected power outage this morning. Our goal is always to have school when possible, and at 5:30 a.m., Springtown Middle School had power when the district made the decision to proceed with classes. However, the power went out at 6:06 a.m., and what we initially thought would be a quick fix by Oncor turned into an extended outage with no estimated restoration time.
Our students were incredible as we transitioned them to Springtown Intermediate School to ensure their comfort and safety. If your student was unable to attend today, please know that their absence will not count against them. We also sincerely appreciate everyoneโs patience as we carefully checked out each student to their parent or guardianโstudent safety is always our top priority, and ensuring that each of our 643 students went home with the correct person was our primary focus.
Another unexpected challenge was that Springtown Intermediate School was conducting benchmark testing, which meant we had to adjust the pickup procedures to avoid disruptions. We are grateful for everyoneโs cooperation in using the alternate pickup location near the gym and cafeteria, which allowed the testing to continue smoothly.
We also want to acknowledge the parents who waited patiently while we worked through some initial internet connectivity issues during check-out. Your understanding helped us ensure that every student was released safely. A huge thank you goes out to our local law enforcement officers for shutting down Pojo Road, walking students safely to Springtown Intermediate, and assisting in locating parents and guardians.
In times of chaos, our community always steps up in a big way, and today was no exception. Thank you for your flexibility, patience, and support. We will provide an update as soon as we have confirmation regarding power restoration and plans for school tomorrow.

If you choose to pick up your child, please go to the appropriate location listed above for their grade level.
Bus Transportation at 10:00 AM
โข Buses will run at 10:00 AM for all students who normally ride the bus. Students who have not been picked up by a parent will be transported home by bus at that time.
โข If you do not want your child to ride the bus, please call 817-220-1219 as soon as possible. We will ensure your student remains at Springtown Intermediate and does not board the bus if we receive your call.
Attendance and Supervision
Rest assured that attendance has been taken, and all students will remain supervised by our staff until they are either picked up by a parent/guardian or leave on the bus. Your childโs safety is our top priority, and we will keep every student safe and accounted for until they are in your care or safely on their way home.
Questions or Concerns?
If you have any questions or concerns, please call us at 817-220-1219. We are happy to assist you and address any needs during this time. Our staff is here to help make this process as smooth as possible despite the power outage.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this unexpected outage. We understand this situation is challenging, and we sincerely appreciate your support and understanding. Together, we will ensure all students are cared for and get home safely.
Sincerely,
Springtown Middle School Administration

โข 7th grade students can be picked up at the cafeteria doors.

Springtown Middle School

As of 8:30 AM, the electric company has not provided an estimated time for full power restoration at Springtown Middle School. To ensure the best environment for our students, our police officers are closing Pojo so we can safely walk both 7th and 8th grade students to Springtown Intermediate School.
โข 7th grade students will be in the cafeteria.
โข 8th grade students will be in the gym.
We will have breakfast available for students at Springtown Intermediate. We will send more updates shortly.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Campuses will be opening on schedule today. Please be aware that a couple of buses may be running a little late to some stops due to fallen branches from the storm. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the normal time! Stay dry, Porcupines! โ๏ธ

Road conditions have remained the same since yesterday afternoon. School will start at REGULAR time.
Drive safely, and we'll see you soon! #PorcupineFamily

โผ๏ธ DELAYED START - 10:00AM โผ๏ธ
Springtown ISD will operate on a delayed start schedule today, with classes beginning at 10:00 AM.
Our team has been out assessing road conditions since 3:45 AM. While roads in town are generally in good shape, there are a few rural areas that require extra caution. We want to allow our bus drivers to navigate those routes in daylight for added safety.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority.
Please stay safe, and we look forward to seeing everyone later this morning.
#PorcupineFamily

Porcupines: Our team has been out checking roads across the district this evening, and everything is clear for tomorrow! โ๏ธ Itโs going to be a chilly one, so be sure to bundle up!
Weโll have buildings open, warm, and ready for you in the morning. Please be patient during drop-off and pick-up, our staff will be working as efficiently as possible to get students in and out safely.
As always, leadership will be out early to check road conditions before buses run to ensure everything remains safe.

No School Tomorrow, January 10th!
We donโt get many of these rare Texas snow days, but they sure bring out the kid in all of us! As children, we would dream of waking up to the magic words, โNo school today!โ Wellโฆ itโs here. Youโve got it now.
Superintendent Shane Strickland took those famous grandparent tales to heart โ you know the ones about walking barefoot to school in the snow, uphill both ways. Letโs just sayโฆ he gave it a try, and youโll want to see how that turned out! ๐
Head over to our districtโs Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/SpringtownISD) to check out the post and enjoy a good laugh. Trust us โ itโs worth it!
Most importantly, take tomorrow to enjoy this unexpected gift of time. Whether youโre playing in the snow, sipping hot chocolate, or simply staying cozy indoors, make some memories. If you have kids, soak up these moments with them. The snow will melt, but the memories will last a lifetime.
Stay warm, stay safe, and weโll see you on Monday!

Weather Update: Springtown ISD Closed Thursday, January 9th
Springtown ISD administration just got off a call with the National Weather Service. Their forecast includes freezing rain, sleet, and possibly snow starting early tomorrow morning, creating hazardous conditions for our buses and drivers to be on the roads.

All before and after-school extracurricular activities are canceled for tomorrow.
Fridayโs status is still TBD โ we will continue to monitor conditions throughout the day tomorrow and share updates as they become available.
Please stay safe, and keep an eye out for additional updates from Springtown ISD! #PorcupineFamily
