No School Tomorrow, January 10th!
We don’t get many of these rare Texas snow days, but they sure bring out the kid in all of us! As children, we would dream of waking up to the magic words, “No school today!” Well… it’s here. You’ve got it now.
Superintendent Shane Strickland took those famous grandparent tales to heart — you know the ones about walking barefoot to school in the snow, uphill both ways. Let’s just say… he gave it a try, and you’ll want to see how that turned out! 😂
Head over to our district’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/SpringtownISD) to check out the post and enjoy a good laugh. Trust us — it’s worth it!
Most importantly, take tomorrow to enjoy this unexpected gift of time. Whether you’re playing in the snow, sipping hot chocolate, or simply staying cozy indoors, make some memories. If you have kids, soak up these moments with them. The snow will melt, but the memories will last a lifetime.
Stay warm, stay safe, and we’ll see you on Monday!

Weather Update: Springtown ISD Closed Thursday, January 9th
Springtown ISD administration just got off a call with the National Weather Service. Their forecast includes freezing rain, sleet, and possibly snow starting early tomorrow morning, creating hazardous conditions for our buses and drivers to be on the roads.
Out of an abundance of caution, all Springtown ISD campuses and offices will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, January 9th.
All before and after-school extracurricular activities are canceled for tomorrow.
Friday’s status is still TBD — we will continue to monitor conditions throughout the day tomorrow and share updates as they become available.
Please stay safe, and keep an eye out for additional updates from Springtown ISD! #PorcupineFamily

We know everyone’s keeping an eye on the potential for wintery weather — we know this because our inboxes are filling up and phones are ringing a lot more than usual! 😂❄️
Please know that Springtown ISD administration is actively monitoring weather conditions and will make any weather-related decisions as early as possible — no later than 6 a.m. on school days.
👉 If school is delayed or canceled due to weather, here's how you'll know:
✅ Text and email notifications will go directly to parents and staff
✅ Updates will be posted on the Springtown ISD app, website, and social media pages
✅ We’ll share information with local news outlets

SPRINGTOWN ISD UPDATE
We’ve received a few questions regarding potential winter weather later this week. The current forecast from the National Weather Service is for 1-4 inches of snowfall accumulation from the Metroplex north and west, with lighter amounts expected in Central Texas. There is also a 30% chance for accumulations to exceed 6 inches in areas west and northwest of the Metroplex.
We will continue to receive updates from the National Weather Service and will share any important information as soon as possible.
Please know that it is always our intention to make decisions as quickly as possible. There are multiple factors we must consider, but 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬, 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐟𝐟, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲.

We have been informed by the City of Springtown that FM 51 is currently closed from 199 to Lynch Bend due to a fatal accident. Traffic is being rerouted, and at this time, we do not know if the road will reopen before our buses begin their routes.
If your student rides buses 39, 52, 75, 81, or MB11, please be aware that drop-off times may be earlier or later than usual due to the rerouting. If you have specific questions, please contact our transportation department at 817-220-1418.
Additionally, if you typically drive this route to pick up your child, we recommend planning an alternate route to avoid FM 51. Staff members who drive this route should also prepare for alternate routes when leaving for the day.
