Today, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) released A–F Accountability System ratings for the 2022–2023 school year, along with updated ratings for 2022. The release was delayed after more than 120 school districts—including ours—raised concerns about significant changes to the accountability system that were implemented with limited notice. This rating was also based on our performance on the new STAAR 2.0 assessments, which introduced several major changes: (1) students took the test online for the first time, (2) new interactive item types were included, and (3) written extended and short constructed responses were embedded across all content areas.
Springtown ISD received a “C” rating under the revised A–F Accountability System. While this rating reflects more difficult assessments and changes in the accountability framework, we also recognize it highlights areas where we must grow. We are fully committed to continuous improvement and to ensuring the success of every student.
Since the 2022-2023 school year, we’ve taken big steps to move forward, including:
Elevating instruction with high-quality materials that are more rigorous and engaging to support strong, effective teaching.
Strengthening Teacher Collaboration through weekly Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) focused on internalizing lessons, deepening their understanding of the curriculum, and improving instructional delivery.
Creating more opportunities for students to take advanced classes, earn industry-based certifications, and find success after graduation.
Utilizing campus instructional coaches to support teachers in implementing high-quality classroom instruction for all students.
Investing in leadership development by engaging campus leaders in Texas Instructional Leadership training, focusing on effective observation and feedback practices to better support teachers and enhance instruction.
While we recognize that this rating reflects data from the 2022–2023 school year, we are not satisfied with being labeled a “C” or average district. We are actively working to improve, and we believe the strategic changes we’ve already implemented are laying the foundation for stronger results moving forward.
Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to partnering with you to help every Springtown ISD student thrive. We will continue to keep you informed with updates as we move forward.
Sincerely,
Shane Strickland
Superintendent, Springtown ISD
