Andrew Hohman, SHS Principal

May 8, 2024 - We're excited to announce that Andrew Hohman has been approved as the new Head Principal of Springtown High School for the 2024-2025 school year by the Springtown ISD Board of Trustees!

A special thank you goes out to the hiring committee for their hard work and dedication in selecting the best candidate for this important role. We fully support your choice and eagerly anticipate the continued growth of Springtown High School under Mr. Hohman's leadership.

I also want to personally thank Melissa Hutchison for the foundation she has built and will leave behind for Mr. Hohman. Rather than praising his qualities ourselves, we've asked Mr. Hohman to introduce himself to his staff and the community. Here is his letter:

I am honored to introduce myself as your new high school principal. My name is Andrew Hohman, and I am very excited to join the Porcupine Family.

My journey into the field of education was deeply inspired by my own experiences as a student. School was challenging for me, and I faced several personal struggles along the way. However, it was the dedicated teachers who stepped up, believed in me, and provided the support I needed to overcome those obstacles. Their unwavering dedication inspired a passion within me to pay it forward and make a difference in the lives of students and in the community.  I believe in the power of education and the impact it can have in shaping students into lifelong learners. As a high school principal, my mission is to create an environment where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.

I believe it’s important to lead by example and strive to use my moral compass to guide me in the decisions I make.  Serving those around me allows me to make connections, build trust and meet the needs of those who look to me for guidance.  I want students, staff and the community to know I have an open-door policy where their voices can be heard.  Communication is an essential part of leadership.

One of my key priorities as principal is to enhance College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) opportunities for our students. I plan to achieve this by partnering with local businesses and organizations to provide internships and mentor programs, expanding dual enrollment options, expanding the CollegeBridge program and implementing career exploration initiatives.

Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs play a vital role in preparing our Porcupines for future success. I believe these programs should offer both technical skills and real-world experiences that align with industry demands. I plan to collaborate with industry leaders to ensure our CTE programs are strong, relevant, and accessible to all students.

Extracurricular activities are invaluable to the success of students.  Participating in extracurriculars not only enriches their academic experience but also plays a crucial role in their personal development. By engaging in extracurricular activities, students have the opportunity to explore their interests, develop new skills, and discover talents they never knew they had.  These activities also contribute to the school culture, providing a sense of belonging and pride in our community.

My wife, Larisa, a dedicated high school English teacher, always keeps me connected to the classroom.  Together, we are blessed with a bright and spirited 10-year-old named Catcher. We are proud to call Springtown, TX, our home. As a family, we enjoy outdoor activities such as camping, fishing, and hiking. Away from the hustle and bustle of school life, I find relaxation in my hobbies, including riding my Harley Davidson motorcycle, hunting and other outdoor activities.

I am looking forward to meeting each of you and working together at Springtown High School. Together, we will make a positive difference in the lives of our students and in our community.

Sincerely,

Andrew Hohman

Andrew's Family

Please join me in extending a warm welcome to Mr. Hohman.
