SHS Yearbook Staff Snaps Into Action

The SHS yearbook staff snaps into action as another school year starts.  They ready their cameras to take pictures of it all: football, volleyball, cheerleaders, band, dance, and students showing school spirit.  Everyone has their moment to shine.

“This is my first year on yearbook staff and I have learned so much already from my peers and through the eye of the camera lens,” senior Grady Odell said.

Odell has already taken photos at the first pep rally and two football games.  Additionally, he helps plan layouts with his classmates.

Preparation for the yearbook starts long before the school year.  Students choose a theme at the end of the previous school year that encompasses what students are experiencing at school. They plan out yearbook pages first, anticipating the events they need to photograph.

“Our yearbook theme this year is Not Just Another Face in the Crowd,” senior editor Sofia Alcala said.  “The school is growing so fast and we want to make sure that all students are represented.  With a year-round book, I feel that we can make that happen. We are looking to feature extraordinary students that are making an impact on our school.”
