Student from Springtown ISD, Abigail Kennedy, Participated in the 2023 Lone Star Leadership Academy Camps

Abigail Kennedy, a student from Springtown ISD, was among the eight hundred forty-four exceptional 4th- 8th graders who took part in Education in Action's summer 2023 Lone Star Leadership Academy camps. Abigail's participation in the camp exemplifies her demonstrated leadership ability, academic excellence, and engagement in school and community activities.

Education in Action's Lone Star Leadership Academy camps offer a unique opportunity for outstanding students like Abigail to enhance their leadership skills while deepening their understanding of the great state of Texas. Throughout the weeklong, overnight camps, participants embark on educational journeys to significant Texas sites, gaining firsthand experiences that complement their classroom learning. The camps are divided into three separate programs based on grade levels: Dallas/Fort Worth (4th, 5th & 6th graders), Austin/San Antonio (5th, 6th & 7th graders), and Houston/Galveston (6th, 7th & 8th graders).

Abigail Kennedy and her fellow participants had the privilege of visiting prominent Texas landmarks such as the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District, Perot Museum, Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza, Texas State Capitol, Supreme Court of Texas, The Alamo, NASA, San Jacinto Battleground Monument, and Moody Gardens. The camps provided a unique opportunity for students to interact with professionals from various fields, gaining insights into a wide array of unique career paths.

The Lone Star Leadership Academy experience isn't just about exploring Texas history and landmarks; it's also about cultivating vital leadership skills. Students engage in problem-solving, decision-making simulations, and creative activities within Leadership Groups. These activities not only help them refine their presentation skills but also encourage teamwork and the development of lifelong friendships.

Education in Action, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is dedicated to empowering young individuals like Abigail Kennedy to become informed, engaged, and influential leaders within their communities. Through initiatives like the Lone Star Leadership Academy camps, Education in Action equips students with the knowledge, skills, and experiences they need to thrive as leaders and responsible citizens.
