Citizens’ Facilities Advisory Committee

OVERVIEW & PURPOSE

The Springtown ISD Citizens’ Facilities Advisory Committee will serve in a temporary advisory capacity to the Board of Trustees and Administration to:

  • Represent the entire community in the facility planning process.

  • Honor the district's history, traditions, and values.

  • Assist the district in assessing and prioritizing current and long-term facility needs, including, but not limited to:

    • District enrollment, capacity, and campus utilization

    • Building age, safety, and condition

    • Student and program equity

    • Evolving educational delivery and programs.

  • Consider the educational needs of all students and align recommendations with the district’s mission, vision, and goals.

  • Consider the district’s current financial position and funding methods to develop a recommendation that is fiscally sound.

  • Report their findings to the Springtown ISD Board of Trustees that will include recommendations on how to meet the needs of the district through future bond programs.

The committee will engage in discussions about:

  • Demographic Reports and Enrollment Projections

  • Existing Facility Conditions

  • Operational Efficiency

  • School Finance

  • Bonding Capacity & Impact of a Potential Bond

  • Building Needs, Potential Solutions, and Cost Analysis

  • Results of Community Survey

  • Priorities for Springtown ISD Facilities

The Springtown ISD Citizens’ Facilities Advisory Committee includes a cross-section of our community, including parents and non-parents, senior citizens, district staff, business owners, and community leaders.

  1. What is the Citizens’ Facilities Advisory Committee?

A group of community members who have come together to evaluate the district’s facilities in order to provide facility and equipment recommendations to the Springtown ISD Board of Trustees. The committee will evaluate aging and evolving building needs, programmatic needs, as well as projected enrollment. 

  1. Why did SISD form the Citizens’ Facilities Advisory Committee?

The district believes in creating a collaborative culture in which all stakeholders may be part of discussions regarding the district’s future. The district wants input in evaluating its facility needs and by forming a committee it allows the district to hear from and incorporate many different perspectives from people in the SISD community. Committee participants reflect larger community values, needs, and desires.

  1. Who’s on the committee?

The Citizens’ Facilities Advisory Committee represents a diverse demographic makeup of SISD residents, including parents, non-parents, grandparents, local civic and business leaders, as well as school and district staff. These committee members work alongside one another to prioritize and build a recommendation to the Board of Trustees that best represents the values and perceptions of the entire community.

  1. How were citizens selected to serve on the Citizens’ Facilities Advisory Committee?

SISD sought nominations through an online form made available through the district’s website and that was shared through regular SISD communication channels. Anyone from the community was able apply. Applicants were then narrowed down to ensure a diverse cross-section of the community would be represented on the committee.

  1. What documents and data are the committee reviewing to determine the needs of the school district?

Committee members are studying current building conditions and functionality, enrollment projections, financial data, and results of a community survey in order to form their recommendation. As additional relevant information and data is requested or becomes available, it will be shared with the committee members. 

  1. If I’m not on the committee, how do I learn more about what’s being discussed?

The Citizens’ Facilities Advisory Committee is designed to be open and transparent. Meeting notes and presentations will be posted on this website for each meeting.
